So what’s the lowdown on the midi skirt?
For those of you who don’t know the term, “midi” is used to refer to any dress or skirt with a hem which hits mid-calf or below the knee. Midis are a great way to ease your pale winter skin into the more bronzed legs we expect to see in spring and summer.
This length is super versatile when it comes to footwear. Gladiator sandals are a very popular and sexy. Of course, a heel is never a wrong way to go. And if you are still not wanting to put away those knee high boots then throwing them under a midi can get you a few extra weeks.
In my opinion, fitted styles are more flattering with the midi length. Throw on a belt to define the waist and pair it with a tucked-in top to complete the look. My favorite midi style is an overlay of lace or mesh to below the knee with a mini length hiding underneath.
No matter how you decide to wear the midi, it’s a great segue to summer style!

Toni Johnson’s creativity has made her an influencer and a trailblazer in the hair care industry. Toni’s humble beginnings started as a stylist over 20 years ago in a salon in Third Ward. As Toni mastered her craft, she transitioned to The Root of You Salon and Day Spa, an exclusive salon which was well known in the Houston and surrounding areas as “The Master Stylist.”
Toni’s diligence, commitment, and professionalism landed her as a co-owner of The Root of You in 2007, which had become known as Houston’s premier and urban upscale salon and day spa.
The Root of You Salon and Day Spa, in 2013, transcended and became The Root Boutique Hair Salon. The transition and new name came with a new location also very familiar to Toni. The Root Boutique is located in the heart of Third Ward near Houston’s Museum District. The area is a part of a mix of cultural history, art venues, great restaurants, and diverse real estate.
The Root Boutique services a wide range of multicultural clientele. Services include but are not limited to hair care, custom weaves, custom hair color, and professional makeup and makeovers.
Toni has always been an empathetic person to others, built from the appreciation of her own journey. So it is never out of the ordinary for Toni to hear someone’s story and set up a complete support avenue through her network for them to succeed. The Root Boutique is in turn a community advocator for young women. The boutique sponsors teenage girls for proms, giving them complete complimentary hair, makeup services, and before and after pictures of the special day.
When Toni is not servicing her professional clientele, she enjoys being a mom, cooking, listening to music, sketching, and painting. Toni is definitely creative at heart, reflecting that in her classy personal and professional style.

(30 minutes) . This is a great pick-me-up facial that cleanses your pores and restores moisture to your skin!
(50 minutes) . This rejuvenating facial treatment deeply cleanses your pores, exfoliates dead skin cells and restores your skin’s natural balance. Products used to perform this facial will be customized to your skin care needs (oily, dry or combination skin types) .
The Root of You Signature Facial
(60 minutes) . This nourishing treatment contains all the elements of our rejuvenation facial with the addition of a custom enzyme treatment designed to refine pores, lift and soften congested skin. The use of essential oils and a hydrating hand treatment make this facial the ultimate in relaxation.
Acne Corrective Facial
(65 minutes) . This therapeutic treatment helps to purify and help calm troubled skin. This facial will improve the texture of your skin as well as treat acne-causing bacteria. Same essential treatment as our Signature Facial with the addition of a two-step acne extraction and concluded with an acne mask.
Gentlemen’s Signature Facial
(70 minutes) . This is our signature facial customized especially for men. This facial not only exfoliates dead skin cells and removes impurities, but a special brush machine is used for the ultimate in skin resurfacing. A special soothing face and neck mask is used in this treatment to soothe shaven skin. This facial includes a facial, shoulder and hand massage and a hydrating hand treatment.
(75 minutes) . This extremely effective treatment will stimulate and exfoliate to improve uneven complexions, soften the appearance of fine lines and ultimately rejuvenate your skin. The results provided are immediate, however, a series of facial treatments are recommended for best results.
Tropical Teen Facial
(40 minutes) . This “fun fruity” facial includes a deep cleansing pineapple/papaya mask with a balancing green apple/peach clay mask. This facial is customized exclusively for teens 13-18 to treat skin conditions that accompany puberty. This facial also exfoliates, detoxifies and deeply cleanses the pores. Extractions are performed as needed. This facial is great for teens wanting to get an early start on caring for their skin.

(20 minutes) . Our eye contour treatment is a successful way to eye care. The effects of the treatment are clearly visible from the first application. It minimizes dark circles, smoothes the skin, reduces puffiness, diminishes fine lines, and creates a feeling of relaxation. A series of five treatments are recommended for longer lasting results.
Sugar Baby Scrub with Vichy Shower Rinse
(60 minutes) . This sweet sugar baby scrub will smooth, soften, moisten, and exfoliate dead skin cells, and leave your skin with a new satin softness. You choose the flavor of your «Sugar». This service is concluded with a relaxing head, neck and shoulder massage, then rinsed off with our six showerhead Swiss Vichy Shower.
Sea Salt Body Polish with Vichy Shower Rinse
(60 minutes) . The key word is ”Polish” for this deep cleaning and exfoliating treatment. As you relax in a serene atmosphere, we gently exfoliate your skin using a blend of aromatic sea and mineral salts with essential oils. Your skin will experience a new satin softness.
Revitalizing Seaweed Body Mask with Vichy Shower Rinse
(60 minutes) . This service is the ultimate treatment in detoxifying and improving skin elasticity and smoothness. Relax while your body benefits from an application of our therapeutic seaweed, warm body wrap, and soothing moisturizer to remineralize, tone and refresh your skin.
Parafango Slimming Body Wrap
(90 minutes) . Reshape your silhouette with our slimming body wrap! With the use of Parafango Paraffin, a unique mixture of paraffin and natural fango mud from the sea, this treatment helps to detoxify the body and reduce cellulitic deposits, all while softening the skin. The combination of the thermal properties of paraffin and the detoxifying effects of the fango, creates an effective treatment for inch loss and cellulite control. A series of wraps are recommended for the best results and a consultation prior to booking the service is preferred.
Moor Mud Treatment with Vichy Shower Rinse
(75 minutes) . Surrender yourself to our moor mud, while nourishing your skin and gently vanquishing aches and pains. Rich in natural vitamins and minerals, this treatment will deeply cleanse pores and relax muscles through a warm body wrap that also brings a new state of deep relaxation and wellness.
Vichy Shower Massage
(30 minutes) . All the while cascades of warm water immerse your entire body with our six showerhead jets to cleanse and help improve circulation. A light moisturizing oil is kneaded into your skin. There are few experiences in life as soothing. A great pick-me-up!
Mini Signature Massage
(30 minutes) . Stress relief massage focusing on the shoulders, neck, back areas.
(50 minutes) . Pregnancy often brings a unique combination of «discomforts» that can be with techniques and positioning designed specifically for pregnancy. Massage can help improve circulation, ease muscle soreness, and mom’s overall wellbeing (not performed during the first trimester) .
(60 minutes) . This therapeutic full body massage uses a custom blend of healing essential oils throughout the session. This massage technique is recommended for individuals with high stress levels.
The Root of You Signature Massage
(60 minutes) . Our full body deep pressure massage is especially designed for individuals that are in need of a deep penetrating massage. This technique uses strong and deep kneading compression of the muscle, coupled with trigger point therapy.
(75 minutes) . This deep penetrating massage is specifically designed for those with an athletic lifestyle. This massage and stretching technique helps to release tight-knotted muscles, relieve muscle strains, soreness, spasms and helps to break down toxins in the body.
(75 minutes) . Let us massage your tired muscles through the use of warm smooth river stones. The warm stones are integrated into the massage and placed on areas of muscle tension throughout the body. The combination of the heat along with finger pressure allows the muscles to warm and release tension.

Our pedicure chairs have a built-in back massager that you control to suit your comfort level. Spa products are used to soften and exfoliate dry skin. A spa pedicure is then performed with a leg and foot massage.
